The Punjabi desi calendar is based on the solar system and comprises 12 months. Each month is named after a different crop or fruit that is harvested during that month. The names of the months are as follows:
Chet (March-April) - Named after Cheti (a type of grain)
Vaisakh (April-May) - Named after Baisakhi (a Punjabi festival)
Jeth (May-June) - Named after Jeth (a type of vegetable)
Harh (June-July) - Named after Hara (a type of greenery)
Sawan (July-August) - Named after Sawan (a month in the Hindu calendar)
Bhadon (August-September) - Named after Bhado (a type of fruit)
Assu (September-October) - Named after Assu (a type of vegetable)
Katik (October-November) - Named after Katik (a type of grain)
Maghar (November-December) - Named after Maghar (a month in the Sikh calendar)
Poh (December-January) - Named after Poh (a type of vegetable)
Magh (January-February) - Named after Magh (a month in the Hindu calendar)
Phagun (February-March) - Named after Phagun (a month in the Hindu calendar)
